The American Staunton set first became popular in 1851 when English chess master, Howard Staunton, promoted a similar set at the first international chess tournament. Now, as part of our wooden collection, you get to own your very own. Extra Queens (one of each colour) included in this set.
Those wooden chess pieces are a terrific addition to any chess collection. The set is hand-carved from Acacia wood and fitted with green felt bases for durability. Perfect for tournament, club or home play.

The chess board is a combination of Walnut and Maple veneers, accentuated by a Walnut border and a protective matte finish for long-lasting durability. Handcrafted and imported from Rechapados Ferrer in Spain, renowned worldwide for their exceptional chess board craftsmanship. Featuring notation on all sides of the board, this chess board is the ideal choice for tournaments, club, or home enjoyment. Each board is packaged in a Polyurethane bag.
