House of Chess began in 2011 when two friends, Elzanne and Estelle, bonded over their children’s love of chess. What started as a hobby soon became a global journey searching for the world’s finest strategy games—building partnerships with leading suppliers from India, Europe, China, the USA, and beyond.

Their shared passion quickly positioned House of Chess as the leading supplier of premium chess sets, backgammon, and classic board games in the Southern Hemisphere. In 2018, they opened a retail store in Randburg, Johannesburg—a unique destination where enthusiasts can experience their full range in person.

While Estelle has moved on to new ventures, her contribution remains a valued part of our story. Today, Elzanne leads a dedicated team committed to quality, service, and exceptional value.
