This workbook serves as a continuation of Jesús de la Villa’s 100 Endgames You Must Know, which successfully debunked the belief that endgame theory is overly complex or dull. Renowned for its clarity and depth, the book has helped countless players improve their endgame skills and overall chess performance.

In recent years, however, some of De la Villa’s students struggled to apply its concepts during games, often feeling underprepared for critical situations. Recognizing that these challenges were common even among strong players, De la Villa created this workbook to provide targeted training materials and exercises.

The workbook includes exercises aligned with the chapters of 100 Endgames You Must Know, allowing players to actively practice and strengthen their understanding while avoiding common mistakes.

  •          Ideal for post-beginners, club players, and aspiring masters looking to improve their game outcomes
  •          De La Villa emphasizes practical advice, helping players transition from theoretical knowledge to real-game application
  •          The workbook format allows for active engagement, which will encourage you to  apply what you learn in structured exercises
  •          Solving these puzzles reinforces key ideas, refreshes understanding, and sharpens calculation abilities

Reader’s Reviews:

This workbook serves as a continuation of de la Villa's foundational endgame collection, and it's recommended that you familiarize yourself with the earlier material before engaging with this one. The well-organized book features clear, well-structured diagrams that make studying easier.

While past authors like Speelman and Chernev also explored this subject, their work mainly focused on endgame studies crafted by specialists, offering more in-depth analysis.

In contrast, de la Villa includes over 90% of real-game positions, primarily post-2000, making this collection notable. His commentary is concise but comprehensive. The positions covered typically involve a king, a pawn (sometimes two), and a piece, with scenarios involving either players or just one having a piece - Kirean
