Reader’s Review
A well-organised classic from Master Reinfeld, 1001 Winning Chess Sacrifices and Combinations works across a wide range of skill levels — from beginners through to strong intermediate players. It's 20 themed chapters, each open with a clear, concise explanation of the tactical concept at hand, giving players the context they need before diving into the positions.
A favourite among strong American players of the Fischer–Spassky era, the book has a proven track record. Many masters and experts from that generation trained with it, and it remains a reliable tool for players returning to competitive play after a break — with at least one reviewer crediting it with helping them achieve a 2200+ tournament performance rating on multiple occasions.
