The American Staunton chess set is inspired by Howard Staunton, who introduced and promoted the standardised Staunton design at the 1851 London International Chess Tournament.
Skilled artisans carve the pieces from Acacia (dark) and Boxwood (light), finishing them with green felt bases for smooth movement and protection for the board.
