Chess Opening Traps for Kids is the fifth in a series of “for Kids” books

Chess becomes enjoyable once we master surviving the opening phase and avoid falling into our opponents' simple tactical traps. That’s the focus of this book.  It helps kids to grasp the opening strategies and learn about tactical concepts.
  • This book is typically for beginner to early intermediate level players, typically around 800 to 1200 Elo and as Graham Burgess mentions below, for secondary-aged children
  • Clear, concise language, presented in a friendly and engaging way
  • By focusing on 100 key themes, kids can learn opening tricks to their advantage
  • Understand the hidden dangers in openings
  • 48 exercises at the end of the book test the student’s understanding
  • Key moments in the game are explained by clear diagrams
  • Learn to turn the tables on opponents, leaving them outplayed, tricked, trapped, and ultimately defeated!
Reader’s Reviews:
Never judge a book by its cover, " and you might look at this book cover and think it was suitable for, say, primary-aged children. I would say not, but I suggest it is ideal for secondary-aged children. Strong juniors from 12 upwards would read and enjoy this book - Graham Burgess, British Chess News

Bought this for my nine-year-old boy. He loved it very much - B Goddard
