Reader’s Reviews:
Dvoretsky wanted to write a book that would teach some intricacies of chess and also be a pleasure to read, so he amassed the tastiest examples here. This last book by him achieves this, presenting its readers with many chess discoveries and the joy of communication with the great coach and author - Artur Yusupov, from the Foreword.
Amazing, that's the only word the comes to mind at this moment. High level, this is no books for amateurs - B Lyon.
About the Author:
Mark Dvoretsky (1947-2016) was one of the most legendary chess instructors in history. Though a strong International Master himself, his true genius lay in training elite players - most notably GM Artur Yusupov (who became one of the world's top players), Kasparov, Anand and Topalov. His systematic, deeply analytical teaching approach became known as "the Dvoretsky method" and represented what GM Yusupov called "one of the secrets of the Russian chess school."
As an author, Dvoretsky produced some of chess literature's most respected works. His Endgame Manual, first published in 2003, was immediately recognised as a modern classic and is widely considered the single best endgame book ever written. His books are known for their exceptional depth and uncompromising difficulty, demanding serious study but rewarding readers with profound chess understanding that has influenced generations of strong players worldwide.
