Take your game beyond the basics with How to Win at Chess, Next Level, the New York Times bestselling follow-up from International Master Levy Rozman, known online as GothamChess.

Written for intermediate players rated 1000–1600 Elo, it picks up where his first book leaves off and shows you how to think, plan and play against stronger opponents.

Rozman focuses on the skills that turn a decent player into a dangerous one, above all how to build a winning plan and see it through.

Over 500 instructional gameplay illustrations let you follow every idea without setting up a board, and his clear, engaging teaching style keeps even the deeper concepts easy to absorb.

  • Designed for midlevel players (1000–1600 Elo) ready to move up a level.
  • Covers pawn play, piece play, tactics, attacking, defending, converting winning positions and endgames.
  • Includes exclusive bonus content on Chessly, Rozman’s online teaching platform.
  • Shows you how to train smarter with chess engines, game analysis, chess bots and puzzles.
  • Practical, actionable advice you can bring to your very next game.
  • The natural next step after How to Win at Chess (0–1300 Elo).
  • Learn from YouTube’s top chess teacher.
Reader’s Reviews:

An excellent book with brilliantly written, highly instructive chapters, and just enough of Levy’s trademark humour to keep things fun. I can’t recommend it enough to anyone who wants a stronger understanding of chess. B.Rydel

The best thing about this book is that you don’t need a board in front of you. The variations are shown in clear diagrams, which is rare for books aimed at the 1000–1600 range. It makes for faster, easier reading, and you can always train your visualisation separately. BW. Cridel

Levy picks up exactly where he left, dropping the perfect follow-up. This is a book that doesn't require a chess board to learn, the concepts are explained concisely and the examples and extra practice drills are amazing. Can't wait for the master level book. K.P
