Reader’s Reviews:

LEARN CHESS by John Nunn is an outstanding instructional resource for beginners looking to learn the game of chess. I was introduced to chess at six and have since become a reasonably skilled player, though I am far from being a Grandmaster.

Throughout my experience, I have taught many newcomers how to play. I highly recommend this book to anyone starting out. It features numerous illustrations of chess pieces on boards and thoroughly covers the fundamentals. While I've explored various beginner chess books over the years, none have matched the quality and clarity of this one - N Kovacevich

As an almost beginner chess student, I found the "Learn Chess" book particularly helpful. I realize some will not like the author's use of a more verbose notation than standard algebraic notation. Personally, I found it useful in quickly clarifying the moves. Concepts introduced were ably explained by examples that a mere mortal could understand. If you are fairly new to chess, have some background, and want to cover fundamental tactics and gameplay, get this book. Highly recommended - Flower69

John Nunn possesses an exceptional talent for clearly explaining complex subjects. This book is undoubtedly the best resource for beginners available. Nunn expertly balances intricate and straightforward concepts, thoroughly explaining more challenging themes while avoiding overly simplistic topics. As an adult learner of this captivating game, I feel fortunate to have discovered this book, which played a crucial role in sparking my interest in chess - B Santosh
