Cycladic civilization is the most ancient in Europe and it flourished in the Aegean Sea during the 3rd millennium B.C. Their marble art was highly stylized representations of the human form with minimal geometric lines which gives them a striking resemblance to today’s modern art.

The King represents a strong male figure with minimal broad shoulders whereas the idol of Queen is devoted to the most significant period in a woman’s life, pregnancy. The Bishop figure has indicative lines with hands under chest and legs together. The Knight is a horse from the war of Troy, found on the bas-relief decoration of a vase in Mykonos Island. The Castle is a replica of the massive 2500-year old marble temple entrance, which is still the landmark of Naxos Island. Finally, the Pawn is the head of the most known marble idol of this period.

Height of the King: 50mm, base 17mm
Weight of the set: 800g

Imported all the way from Rechapados Ferrer in Spain, this remarkable chess board is a true testament to fine craftsmanship. Skillfully constructed using a blend of Black Poplar and Birdseye Maple veneer, the board boasts a stunning aesthetic. The Blackwood frame further enhances its elegance, providing a striking contrast to the intricate woodwork. The Birdseye Maple veneer derives its name from the delicate knots in the grain, resembling the mesmerizing eyes of tiny birds. This distinctive feature adds an extra touch of allure to the chess board, captivating the attention of any observer.

For protection, each chess board is packed in the signature Rechapados Ferrer cardboard box. Dimensions of the chess board is 40cm x 40cm x 1.3cm and 40mm squares.
