Handmade in South Africa, this wooden chess board is skillfully constructed using a blend of Mahogany and Maple wood, each chosen for its distinctive qualities.
Mahogany, celebrated for its remarkable durability and rich, warm tones, offers a chess board with a robust foundation. Notably, Mahogany wood showcases fascinating grain patterns that can range from straight to wavy, ensuring that each chess board is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. The Maple wood adds a beautiful contrast and a touch of elegance with its pale cream to light brown hues.

Wooden products require regular care:
- If dirty, wipe using a damp cloth, then wipe the surface dry with a soft, non-abrasive cloth.
- Oil products a few times a year when wood appears to be dry. Wood will absorb the oil when applied. A good product to use is Woodoc Deep penetrating furniture wax.
- Avoid placing wooden products in direct sunlight.
- Water can cause permanent swelling and stain damage.
- Avoid placing objects, other than chess pieces onto the chess board.

Orders are delivered by a courier or can be collected from House of Chess.
If we receive your payment before 11:30am, the order will be shipped on the same day. Deliveries to Pretoria and Johannesburg are most likely delivered the next business day. Generally, we deliver to all major towns within 2 to 3 business days, while deliveries to more remote areas can take up to 5 business days. Regardless of how remote your location is in Southern Africa, we proudly deliver to any destination.
