Reviews:
“A masterpiece” – Former US Chess Champion Joel Benjamin
This is the top book for learning endgames if you're not a Grandmaster. I've read several renowned endgame books by authors like Fine, Keres, and Dvoretsky, but this gem by Perlo is by far the most enjoyable and memorable – Casablanca
Many of my chess friends tend to overlook the importance of endgames. They focus heavily on studying openings for a quick advantage or mastering the middlegame to crush opponents, dismissing endgames as dull. However, I strongly disagree with that perspective.
In fact, I often gain valuable rating points from balanced endgames. Admittedly, some endgame books feel like reading encyclopedias, making them tedious. But van Perlo's Endgame Tactics stands out as a delightful exception! With a lively, engaging style, van Perlo presents 1,300 brilliant tricks and tactics.
I've spent countless hours solving the diagrams, celebrating my victories, or cringing at missed opportunities. Either way, I've gained many valuable techniques for that critical final phase of the game - G Falter
